It was gathered that in the midst of the chaos, Chikwere fell and hit his head on a nearby gutter, leaving him with serious injuries.
His friend, Fortune, who was with him at the time of the unfortunate incident, rushed him to the hospital, but the medical staff at the private hospital were said to have demanded some deposit before they could commence treatment on the victim.
It was learnt that, before his mother who was alerted of the son’s predicament could raise the funds demanded by the hospital, Chikwere sadly lost his life.
Chikwere’s death has been described as a devastating blow to his family, as he was the only child of his parents.
His father, information has it, had passed away a few years ago, leaving his mother to care for him alone.
Mr. Elijah Udenwa, a resident of Aba, who verified the information from the right sources, has called on the authorities to take note of this tragic incident.
He specifically appealed to Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, to offer assistance to the grieving family, who reside in Azuka.
The tragic event marks another death recorded from the Friday gunmen attack at Opobo Junction Aba, which claimed the lives of two police officers.
