Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga winner, Nathan Tella, has been pulled out of the Super Eagles square for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against South Africa and Benin Republic. Coach Finidi George Super Eagles will play 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against South Africa, on June 7, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; and on June 10 against the Republic of Benin, in Cote d’ Ivoire.

Super Eagles in a statement on Thursday, May 30, disclosed the Bayer Leverkusen winner and 2021 AFCON silver medalist pulled out of the World Cup qualifier matches squad due to family reasons. “Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen has excused himself from the upcoming WCQ matches due to family reasons,” the statement read.

While Coach Finidi George has now called up “Ibrahim Olawoyin of Caykur Rizespor of Turkey” to replace Tella, the Super Eagles will have to struggle following Osimhen’s injury absence.
