While some continue to stay connected to entertainment, others have chosen new paths outside the industry. Here are seven stars who made the decision to relocate:
Funsho Adeolu
The quiet and reserved actor from Ondo State moved to the US with his family, where he found success in the events industry. Funsho is now known as “The Dancing MC,” sharing lively dance videos on social media. He seems content with his choice to start fresh abroad.
Lola Alao
Now based in Canada, Lola Alao has made a home with her family, including the children of late Nollywood actress Aisha Abimbola, whom she became the guardian of. Despite the move, Lola remains active in film production, having made four movies in Canada in 2020.
Mistura Asunranmu
A beloved figure in Yoruba cinema, Mistura relocated to Texas to join her husband. She is now a radio and TV presenter, and also organizes events in the US, staying connected to her entertainment roots while adapting to life abroad.
Opeyemi Aiyeola
Opeyemi moved to the UK in 2007 at the peak of her career and took a break from acting. She returned to the screen in 2018 and has since starred in numerous films. She spends time in Nigeria to work on projects but remains based in the UK, balancing her family life with selective acting roles.
Bukky Wright
Bukky Wright moved to the United States in 2018 for further studies and to be closer to her sons, who were already abroad. After completing her Master’s degree, she switched to a corporate career in IT, though she still occasionally appears in movies.
Doris Simeon
After a successful career in Nigeria, Doris relocated to the US in 2018. The actress, who starred in several Yoruba films, left for personal reasons, especially to be with her son. She misses Nigeria, particularly the food, but has built a new life in the US, working in various jobs including as a hairdresser.
Stella Damasus
Stella moved to the US with her then-husband, Daniel Ademinokan. After their separation in 2020, she continued to live in the US, primarily based in Atlanta. Stella, who has appeared in iconic Nigerian films like Rattlesnake and Dangerous Twins, still occasionally works in the entertainment industry but has adapted to life abroad.
