Earlier in the week, doubts had emerged when Salah was left out of Slot’s Champions League squad for the trip to Inter Milan, leading some to wonder if the Egyptian would feature for the Dutch coach’s Liverpool side again.
Those questions were put to rest on Saturday when Salah came on in the 25th minute of the match against Brighton. His appearance drew attention not only because of the prior uncertainty, but also due to a vague post he shared online after the game.
It remains unclear whether Salah would have been introduced so early had Joe Gomez not been forced off through injury during the opening half hour at Anfield. With Gomez sidelined, Dominik Szoboszlai dropped into right-back, allowing Salah to take up his usual position out wide.
