The President’s exact whereabouts have been unknown for several days and this has led to questions about his accountability to the citizens.

Tinubu embarked on a trip to China on August 29, with a planned stopover in Dubai. However, he unexpectedly appeared in London on Wednesday.

During his time in China, the President engaged in various meetings and signed agreements with Chinese leaders, but his subsequent movements in foreign lands have been shrouded in deep mystery.

The lack of transparency regarding the President’s whereabouts has raised eyebrows, with many Nigerians expressing frustration and disappointment.

A section of the population has reminded the Nigerian leader that the office of the President is a public trust, and citizens have a right to know where their leader is and what he is doing.

An instance is made of the president of the United States who is said to travel around with the country’s nuclear codes. It is claimed that Americans are always in the know of where their president is as well as his activities.

This is not the first time Tinubu has been unclear about his whereabouts.

In April, he travelled to The Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, but his return was delayed, and as with the recent happening, silence from the Presidency led to concerns from the populace. Similarly, in January, he embarked on a “private visit” to France, which some Nigerians alleged was due to health concerns.

The President’s stay away from the country comes at a time when citizens are facing challenges at home, including a petrol crisis, floods, and ongoing security issues.

Many Nigerians feel that their leader should be on the ground, addressing these problems and finding solutions, rather than ruling from overseas.
