Trossard opened the scoring on the 20th minute bundling home from Havertz’ cut back. The initial mistake for the goal was caused by Casemiro who was dragged out by Havertz’ movement.
He moved upfield following Andre Onana’s long kick, leaving Kai Havertz miles onside to skip past Evans. The German squared to Trossard of a simple finish despite Wan Bissaka sliding in.
The second half started with Manchester United on the front foot. It looked like Arsenal were sitting off the Red devils, inviting them to pressure the defense.
Arsenal managed to hold on, relatively unscathed to seal the victory and maintain pressure on Manchester City.
The only concern for Arteta who seemed to see his game plan work out came from Bukayo Saka’s injury.
Saka couldn’t finish the game but it doesn’t look like a serious injury that would keep him out of Everton.
Arsenal Living on a prayer as Manchester City travel to Tottenham
Ange Postecoglu delighted Arsenal fans when he promised to have a “real crack” at Manchester City in the mid-week fixture.
He made the comments after Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over now relegated Burnley.
Arsenal fans will however be resigned to their rivals not turning up for the game after their antics following the Burnley win.
Ange postecoglu and his players could be seen doing their end of the season lap of honor, even though they had City as their final home game.
