The ruling party emphasized that TNN is not affiliated with the APC and that its members are unknown within the party’s structure.
This statement follows TNN’s announcement five days earlier of its decision to break away from the APC to form a new political party. The group’s National President, Modibbo Farakwai, had claimed that the movement was targeting 26 million voters nationwide.
On Thursday, posters featuring Jonathan’s image and slogans promoting his 2027 candidacy appeared across Kano, sparking speculation about the former president’s potential return to politics.
Responding to the development, APC Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru dismissed any ties between the party and TNN, describing the group as “amorphous” and lacking credibility.
“The printing and promotion of Jonathan’s campaign posters, despite knowing he is not a member of the APC, further confirm that TNN has no roots in our party,” Duru stated. “If they were genuine APC members, they would know that former President Goodluck Jonathan is not part of our fold.”
The APC reiterated its commitment to distinguishing itself from unverified political groups and maintaining its focus on delivering on its promises to Nigerians.
