The Federal Government has again appealed to Nigerians to give it more time to enable its policies to produce the desired results of making life better. Represented by the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad Bulama, the Minister stressed that better days were nigh.
Alhaji Muhammad Idris, reeled out efforts the Tinubu-led administration had done to revamp the economy and make life better.
He explained that in a crispy situation such as the one being faced by the country, projection of performance indices and appeal for calm are veritable tools for dousing the impact of the factors escalating the fume, repeating them therefore is necessary.
“We are appealing to Nigerians to be more patient and more understanding. The President is doing a lot to change the fortunes of Nigerians and the fortunes of Nigeria as a country, and I an assume you that by the time a combination of all the outcomes of these initiatives start showing, Nigeria would be a much better place”, he said.
Referencing the government’s various interventions to cushion its harsh economic policies, the Minister said if only Nigerians would extend their patience, the rest of the world would soon begin to envy them.
“Nigeria has recorded a record-breaking trade surplus of six-point-five-two trillion in the first quarter of 2024. Now compare this with deficit of one-point-four-one trillion recorded in fourth quarter of 2023. So from a deficit of one-point-four trillion, we have now reached a positive increase of six-point-two trillion Naira”, the explained.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented by his Chief of Staff, pointed out that inclusivity in governance would give the administration a clear vision on the best way to address critical issues.
“It’s crucial, each voice matters and each opinion counts. We believe that together, we can create a more compassionate and more United communities”, the SGF added.
The convener of Citizens’ Assembly, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Mrs. Abiodun Essiet, said the gathering was a significant milestone in the administration’s journey towards fostering inclusivity and grassroots representation in governance.
“On the 16th of September 2023, President Bola Tinubu appointed six Senior Special Assistants on Community Engagement across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This strategic initiative underscores President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to integrating diverse voices and perspectives into our decision-making processes, thereby enhancing community development and cohesion.
She said the programme was also aimed promoting national cohesion through strategic engagements with citizens on a quarterly basis.
