Despite that there have been huge question marks over the Argentine’s future for large parts of the season with many fans wanting him replaced.
Pochettino could be a candidate for Bayern if he leaves Chelsea
Pochettino is facing a season review in the coming days which will decide his future at Stamford Bridge, where he is expected to plead his case at how well he’s done given all the circumstances this season.
Chelsea endured a difficult start to the season winning just three of their first ten league games, but rallied in the second of the half of the season, with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool taking more points than the Blues in 2024.
Whether this is enough to convince the powers that be he should continue next season remains to be seen, with Chelsea reported to have contacted the reps of Ruben Amorim and Kieran McKenna recently as they seek out possible replacements.
If Pocehttino leaves he’s unlikely to be short of options and Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has reported the Argentine could become a candidate for the Bayern job if he leaves Chelsea.
He goes on to add that a decision is expected to be taken on the Argentine’s future either on Tuesday or Wednesday.
It’s been reported if Pochettino leaves, Chelsea will look to employ a young coach not an experienced one, which doesn’t fill anyone with confidence given the options currently available.
What the club needs more than anything is stability, and Pochettino has clearly cultivated a very good environment at the club with a real sense of togetherness amongst the squad who all seem to like him.
Tearing that up to start again seems like another backwards step just as the club has started to show signs of moving forward.
