Boko Haram Abducts High Court Judge, Wife, Two Others In Borno, Whisks Them To Sambisa Forest

In a brazen attack on Monday, June 24, 2024, Boko Haram insurgents abducted High Court Judge Justice Haruna Mshelia, his wife, driver, and orderly along the Biu to Maiduguri road in Borno State. The attackers swiftly barricaded the route, forcing the judge’s vehicle to come to an abrupt halt. In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the vehicle maneuvered to escape but was intercepted by another group of insurgents.

In the ensuing chaos, the armed militants seized Justice Mshelia, his wife, driver, and orderly. Subsequently, they were taken hostage and transported into the notorious Sambisa Forest, a known stronghold of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The abduction occurred on the Damaturu-Buni Yadi-Buratai-Biu road, a critical route linking several local government areas in Southern Borno to Maiduguri.

This road has long been plagued by its dilapidated condition, posing significant risks to motorists and passengers alike.

Local authorities and security forces have been alerted, with efforts underway to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.

The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region despite efforts by the Nigerian military to combat insurgency.
