A drama broke out after the female student appeared to have been shoved by a lecturer who was walking past her while she made a TikTok video.
One thing led to another, and what started as a purported shoving, escalated to a dramatic scene, which caught the attention of many students. The clip made the rounds on social media, with many taking sides with the lecturer, Dr Chukwudi Okoye.
While the lecturer claimed the female student bit him and showed the extent of the bite, the embattled undergraduate countered his claims, saying she was not aware he is an academic.
Many have called on the university to take action against the student, while a few criticised the lecturer.
The university made a press release hours after the incident, calling for calm from the concerned parties and members of the public and also promising to carry out a full-scale investigation.

“…Point of correction, her mum is not a lecturer as speculated. She is just a non-teaching staff who works in the school library…”
UNIZIK alumnus writes to VC about incident
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that an alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has written an open letter to the vice chancellor concerning the viral incident involving a student and a lecturer.
In the letter shared on Facebook, the alumnus appreciated the vice chancellor for commencing an investigation into the matter and expressed worry that his alma mater now breeds students with zero discipline. He suggested an action the school authorities could take. His letter read in part:
“…It is incumbent on a student from our days when you were teaching us at the medical school to immediately give in to a lecturer when he sought to correct us and to allow the lecturer correct any abnormality as the guardian to remind us the need to maintain good conduct to achieve discipline, a mantra of the school. But this particular student took to fight the lecturer, and i watched the sad video how she was dragging a lecturer by his clothes like a common petty thief.”
