The surprising twist means that the Action Peoples Party secured 22 out of the 23 chairmanship positions across the state, making Etche the only local government area where a different party prevailed.
Hon. Nwafor is currently seated alongside other chairmen-elect as the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) prepares to issue certificates of return to the winners in a ceremony taking place shortly.
Later today by 4pm, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will swear in the newly elected Chairmen.
In a Government Special Announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear-in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4pm.”
