“With the aid of water, the Hausa trader brought the indigene back to life. We then called the police to the scene and the Hausa trader was taken away. If the police did not come on time, the suspect would have been killed. Also, the victim after he revived took to his heels when he learnt that the police was to arrest him also maybe for him to explain what happened,” one of the eyewitnesses told Oasis Magazine.

Meanwhile, another eyewitness who spoke under conditions of anonymity, identified the victim as one of the Hausa traders who sell at night around the campus main gate.

“From my findings, it looks like an argument may have broken out after the indigene refused to pay for what he bought which resulted in arguments and then the slap that left him unconscious.

“The victim looked dead and youths caught the culprit and beat him up seriously and forced him to bring him back to life, which he eventually did. Other Hausa traders came to the scene but were mute because the same treatment would have been meted on them if they had supported the unnecessary action of their tribesmen,” he said.
