Among the awardees are Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.

Other notable recipients include former Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sadiq Ango, who’s also a son of former Vice Chancellor of the institute, Prof. Ango Abdullahi.

The ceremony, scheduled to be held on Saturday, will feature a lecture titled ‘Contributions of Faculty of Education to Nigeria’s Development from 1968 to Date,’ delivered by Prof. A.A.M. Shaibu, former Head of Department, Science Education of the institute.

The event will also recognise the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond B. Bako; and two former Heads of the Department of Science Education, Prof. A.A.M. Shaibu and Prof. Mamman Musa; 13 Provosts of Colleges of Education; and two Rectors of Polytechnics, among others, at the one-day event.

According to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. H.I. Bayero, in a programme released on Friday, the awardees were chosen for their outstanding contributions to the development of the faculty and the education sector in Nigeria.

The ceremony will be chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, while His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, Emir of Zazzau, will be the royal father of the day.

Dr. (Hon.) Abubakar Garba Matazu, former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Education, will be the Special Guest of Honour.

The Diamond Jubilee celebration is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country, including education stakeholders, politicians, and traditional leaders.
