The Ivorian forward sustained an ankle injury in training in midweek ahead of the clash against Tottenham.

Amad has been United’s best player this season and has gone from strength to strength since Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford back in November, scoring six goals and registering five assists in all competitions.

The club confirmed that Amad has suffered an ankle injury, while he also took to Instagram to wish the team well ahead of a busy fixture schedule.

Amad wrote on Instagram: “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever

“Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”

Amorim has now confirmed that the Red Devils will be without Amad for the rest of the season.

He said: “I think Amad Diallo will be out for the rest of the season, yes.

“There are seasons when everything happens at the same time. Maybe we will find new ways to create situations.

“We have kids with less responsibility, less weight on their shoulders. They are good players. If needed we will put the kids to play and maybe we will find good things in this moment.

“It is a very good moment in their lives, no matter the moment of our club. We are ready to try to win this game. We want to win this game, we need to win this game.

Amad has been in outstanding form for Manchester United this season, he is their leading scorer in the league, he is also the joint-top goalscorer in all competitions, along with Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United are short of options in the attacking third with Marcus Rashford, and Antony allowed to go out on loan in the January transfer window.
