Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye, a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, emphasized that the current hardship in the country requires more immediate and effective solutions.

While acknowledging that President Tinubu has been working tirelessly to ease the suffering of citizens, Oyintiloye stressed the need for faster, more impactful actions.

“The economic situation, especially the rising prices of essential commodities such as food, fuel, electricity, and cooking gas, is becoming unbearable for the average Nigerian,” he said. “The recent fuel price hike has only worsened the hardship, and urgent measures are needed to bring relief.”

Oyintiloye, who served as part of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, highlighted the growing frustration among Nigerians, noting that while people remain hopeful for a turnaround, action must be taken more swiftly to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

He also pointed to delays in the implementation of critical policies, such as the suspension of customs duties on imported food items, which had been announced by the President as part of efforts to combat rising food prices. Despite assurances from the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, that the policy would be enacted swiftly, Oyintiloye expressed concern that two months later, there has been little progress.

“The President cannot do everything on his own,” Oyintiloye said. “His directives need to be carried out by those responsible, and any bureaucratic delays should be cleared immediately. Nigerians are hungry, and action must be taken now.”

He urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the President’s administration, noting that the current policies, though painful, would yield significant benefits in the long term.
