The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing Mobilization Vanguard (YWMV) has demanded an immediate apology from the Peoples Democratic Party or PDP leaders over accusation of trying to discredit the Minister of Defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle and other APC leaders, warning Nigerians to be aware of alarmists who seek to damage common interests for personal gain......See Full Story>>.....See Full Story>>
The organisation called on the PDP’s Northwest elders to focus on resolving their party’s internal crisis rather than blaming the Minister of State for Defence for their failure.
Alhaji Ashiru Tukur, chairman of the vanguard, said this in response to the opposition PDP’s purported claims of political harassment against its followers in the northwest by the minister.
The APC vanguard emphasised the importance of finding solutions to the conflicts that threaten them and the party’s survival, rather than impeding the state and nation’s peace, progress and stability.
However, last Thursday, the PDP Professionals Support Movement urged President Bola Tinubu to halt Minister of State for Defence Mohammed Bello Matawalle from allegedly harassing opposition politicians in the region.
Tukur condemned the claims made by opposition party leaders and members describing them as unfounded and cheap politically motivated propaganda aimed at ruining the APC administration’s hard-earned image.
“The allegations of political harassment by whatever means against any political groups in the country under the present administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is baseless and cheap political propaganda aimed at tarnishing the image of the led APC administration”
He branded the PDP in the North as a collection of frustrated and failing political groups of people who have mastered mischief with the intention of causing political unrest, chaos and hatred among Nigerians who are quickly gaining faith in the APC-led administration of renewed hope.
“Apart from PDP’s woeful political failure, it failed to give good governance in a state dwarfed by poverty and economic degradation in addition to the threat of insecurity as a result of negligence and poor governance”, the vanguard said while noting that in its attempt to bury it inability at the state, the PDP resort to mudslinging and name calling.
Tukur said: “This is a mere display of incompetence and weakness associated with hatred and blackmail of targeted political personalities like Minister Matawalle in an attempt to create a heightened tension, conflict, and disharmony at a time people are looking for a solution to end insecurity, hunger, and poverty.”
He described Matawalle as an unmatched philanthropist who, even as Minister, identifies with the people of the state in times of adversity and joy, pointing out that he and his predecessor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, recently extended gestures in cash, food items, and other materials to victims of the flood disaster across communities in Gummi local government of Zamfara State.
“It is imperative to recognize the consequences associated with the PDP’s deliberate attempt to smear the name of Matawalle which undermines the foundation of collaborative endeavours, hinders social cohesion, and fosters environmentally driven misfortunes against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.”
The group praised President Tinubu’s commitment to developing an equal society based on mutual respect, understanding, and advancement.
“We need to display the spirit of nationalism and patriotism by giving the President and Nigerians the space and eschew divisive tactics, foster an ethos of cooperation, empathy, and constructive communication rather than heating the polity at the very tender stage as sponsored by enemies of peace, cohesion, and progress.”
