BREAKING: APC Insider Reveals ‘One Thing’ Delaying Ganduje’s Removal As Tinubu Eyes 2027

The tenure of Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) might be ending soon, according to a source within the party who spoke to THE WHISTLER. Despite recently securing support of some APC governors, Ganduje’s removal is reportedly imminent as the party seeks a replacement that is better aligned with its strategy for the 2027 general election......See Full Story>>.....See Full Story>>

According to a party source, the only obstacle to Ganduje’s removal is the challenge of finding a credible successor. The delay is also said to be partly caused by President Bola Tinubu’s careful political calculations.

Tinubu has maintained a conspicuous silence on the issue, which party members have interpreted as strategic to avoid compromising his own position ahead of the 2027 election.

The president’s concern, according to the source, is to secure more support to ensure his victory in the next election.

The source further revealed that the president convened a meeting with National Working Committee (NWC) members on Tuesday, July 9, though the outcome remains undisclosed.

It is expected that once a suitable replacement has been agreed upon, a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party will be called to seal Ganduje’s fate.

“The accused person will not attend the NEC meeting because they won’t want to disgrace him there. What is holding Ganduje’s removal is that they are looking for a credible person, once they decide on who, they will remove him immediately.

“The president has been too silent on the issue. He’s being too careful so he doesn’t ruin things for himself in the next election. Tinubu is trying to capture everywhere for the 2027 election so that he will get the majority vote at the end of the day, no matter what.
The president called for a meeting with the NWC members yesterday around 3 pm, but I do not know the outcome of the meeting,” the source said.

The source added that Ganduje’s position remains precarious, despite efforts by four governors—from Ekiti, Imo, Cross River, and Ondo states—to show their support through a vote of confidence during a meeting at the party’s headquarters on Monday, July 8.

THE WHISTLER also learnt that the APC’s NWC is divided over Ganduje’s removal, with some members supporting his ouster while others advocate for his retention.

Another party source indicated that the internal conflicts are minor compared to the overarching decision, which ultimately lies with Tinubu and the governors.

“Ganduje’s removal is imminent,” the source asserted, adding “The president and some governors are deeply involved in this matter, and they hold the real power. Once Tinubu and the governors agree on a suitable replacement, Ganduje’s fate will be sealed.”

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that governors elected on the APC platform had resolved to persuade President Tinubu to replace Ganduje with a candidate from the North Central zone, specifically a Christian from Nasarawa State.
