National Administrative Secretary of the party, Mr. Okoro Chinedum Benedict, stated this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday, emphasizing that any election conducted with a list of candidates not approved by the state leadership recognized by APGA’s national body would be null and void.
Benedict noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently recognized Edozie Njoku and Nuhyideed Iman as National Chairman and Secretary, respectively, and that states’ chapters of the party should take instructions from them.
He explained that the new leadership of APGA, headed by Chief Edozie Njoku, had set up a committee to inform party members at the grassroots and state level of the change in leadership.
Benedict warned RSIEC against dealing with unauthorized party officials, stating that any attempt to do so would amount to unlawful exclusion, making the entire process a jamboree.
He stressed that recognition should be accorded to the Mr. Harry-led leadership in the state by the electoral umpire in the forthcoming council poll, emphasizing that only lists of candidates with Mr. Harry’s approval and signature are valid.
The APGA national leadership’s warning comes as the party prepares to participate in the local government election in Rivers State, with the national body emphasizing its commitment to ensuring a smooth and legitimate electoral process.
