President Bola Tinubu has joined other world leaders to condemn Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump who is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for the November presidential election. Various world leaders have already expressed their dismay over the attempt to kill the ex-president.
In a post on his X handle on Sunday to react to the development, President Tinubu said that the attack is distasteful.
He posted: “The attack on former President Donald Trump is distasteful and goes beyond the pale of democratic norms. Violence has no place in democracy.
“I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time.”
