Wike stated that the Peace Accord he signed with his predecessor, FCT Minister Rotimi Amaechi, was purely political and could be revoked. He made this declaration while addressing a delegation from Bayelsa State that visited him to seek an end to the crisis.
“Those claiming to be Assembly members are not,” Wike asserted. “I agreed to the Peace Accord to give them a reprieve. It was a political solution, not a constitutional one. I allowed them to exist, but if I de-recognize them, they are nothing.”
Wike emphasized that he has shown restraint throughout the crisis, despite having the power to deploy state resources. “I have been the big brother, despite their intimidation,” he said.
According to Wike, the Assembly members are overstepping their authority. “They are biting more than they can chew,” he declared. “I have made sacrifices for peace, but there comes a time when I have to make a stand.
