During the opening months remarks, Bala Mohammed categorically blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for being the architect of the lingering leadership crisis of the PDP in Rivers state.
The PDP Governors Forum Chairman made the declaration while speaking to Journalists shortly after granting behind the closed doors audience to members of the PDP Board of Trustee PoB at Governor’s Office.
Bala Mohammed expressed concern on the struggle to control PDP leadership in Rivers state between the incumbent Governor, Siminalaye Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike who is the FCT Minister in the APC led Federal Government.
The Governor attributed the incident to a plan by the APC to create moles within PDP controlled state to its advantage at the expense of the good people of the state.
The Governor however stated that efforts are being made to take strong decisions aimed at unifying the party at whatever cost because according to him, “We cannot compromise peace and unity of our great party.”
Speaking earlier, the BoT Chairman, Sen Adolphus Wabara commended the Governor for his efforts to devise effective means in resolving the crisis within the party, expressing readiness to support him in that direction.
Adolphus Wabara also noted that the BoT members are planning to engage both the contending parties in separate meetings with a view to resolving the lingering issue.
He expressed dissatisfaction with recent events within the party, particularly the National Working Committee (NWC) and the Rivers State leadership crisis.
According to him, “We are not happy with what is happening in the Party, and I think Nigerians too are not happy with what is happening in the PDP, particularly in Rivers State.”
Despite all these challenges, the PDP BoT Chairman commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his numerous developmental achievements calling him “a symbol of unity within the PDP.”
He stressed that, “The Governor’s leadership as Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum is crucial in promoting genuine reconciliation and development for sustainable growth.”
