It’s been another strong start to the season for Saka, who recorded his seventh goal contribution of the campaign against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Englishman scored a free kick in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over the Parisians in the Champions League, building on his impressive display the game prior against Leicester City.
Saka captained his boyhood club in the Champions League on what was a special night at the Emirates, with several star faces in attendance to watch the victory.
The most surprising attendee was Stan Kroenke, who made an appearance alongside son Josh Kroenke in North London.
As well as the Kroenke’s were Arsenal Invincibles Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg, with Pires meeting up with some members of the squad after the win.
It was a big moment for Pires, who came under fire at Arsenal after making comments about Saka in regard to his consistency.
The Frenchman claimed that Man City star Jeremy Doku is ‘a bit better’ than Arsenal’s number seven in an interview with Wettbasis.
“Perhaps this season, especially in the Champions League, he will show a more convincing face than last season when it counts.
“For example, in my opinion Jeremy Doku from Manchester City is a bit better because he is technically stronger, has better dribbling skills and is more imaginative.”
It was quite the saga on social media as fans fumed at Pires’ comments however, there seems to be no issue between the Arsenal legend and Saka.
Following Arsenal’s win over PSG, Saka snapped a photo of the pair together on Instagram, captioning the post ‘Friends again’.
Now that Saka has made it clear that his ‘feud’ with Pires is over, the Frenchman will hope that attention is taken away from his controversial comments.
As Arsenal supporters discovered what Pires had said about Saka’s consistency, the Invincible came under fire, forcing him to explain on his opinion.
The former winger posted a photo of Saka with a captain that defused the situation, sharing his admiration for the 23-year-old.
It was a surprise admission from Pires in the first place, considering that one of Saka’s greatest strengths in the Arsenal squad is his reliability.
Still, everyone is entitled to an opinion in football but perhaps Pires will now opt to keep his thoughts under wraps.
