The remains of Ogbonnaya Onu, the former Minister of Science and Technology, will be buried on November 8, 2024, at his hometown of Uburu in Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State. A statement from the burial committee, chaired by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, announced that the five-day funeral ceremony will take place in Abuja, Abia, and Ebonyi states.
The schedule includes a night of tributes on November 4, 2024, at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, starting at 5 PM. A Requiem Mass in his honour will be held at the Church of Assumption in Asokoro, Abuja, on November 5, 2024.
On November 6, a lying in state will be conducted at the Abia State Executive Council Chambers at 11 AM, followed by another day of tributes at the International Conference Centre in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, at 1 PM on the same day.
On November 7, a lying in state will take place at the Ebonyi State Executive Council Chambers at noon, and a Requiem Mass/Christian Wake will be held at Uburu at 5 PM.
The funeral service and interment at Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State, is scheduled for 11 AM on November 8, 2024.
