BREAKING: Car owners receive final warning as police announce deadline for third-party insurance

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police said that the enforcement of the third-party insurance is mandatory.

Adejobi also stated that the police will begin nationwide enforcement of the third-party insurance on all vehicles on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

According to Adejobi, the aim of the initiative is to reinforce road safety measures among users.

He also said that the insurance enforcement would include fines and other penalties provided by the law.

Calling for compliance by car owners, Adejobi said, “Effective Feb. 1, all vehicle owners nationwide are required to possess valid Third Party Insurance as they move about.

“Those without the insurance are advised to be insured quickly to avoid any sort of embarrassment,” he said.

He added that police officers have been empowered to conduct checks on the road to ensure compliance by users.
