Chelsea fired their beloved manager just two days after the season ended. Of course, the club said it was by mutual consent, but we find it hard to believe that Pochettino would go so quickly after his first year leading the Blues in the Premier League. Sure, the season didn’t go as planned, ending toward the middle/bottom half of the table, but he had turned it around at the end of the season with five wins in a row......Read The Full Article>>.....Read The Full Article>>
However, it was just too little too late. Chelsea were already on the look for a new boss who could lead them back into the top three, or the top five, in the 2024-2025 Premier League campaign. They have their eyes on one very special Stuttgart manager who could be the ideal replacement for Pochettino at Chelsea FC.
Stuttgart Manager Possible Replacement at Chelsea
One of the main talks around town is the possibility of choosing Sebastian Hoeness as the new Chelsea manager. There are other options, like Thomas Tuchel, but Hoeness is leading the pack as one of the top frontrunners to lead the Blues next year.
Hoeneess is not only a smart and tactical coach, but he is a former player, which shows he knows the understanding of the game and can help gain the respect of current players on the squad. He is a young coach in the German Bundesliga who currently manages VfB Stuttgart.
Despite having less experience than other short listed coaches, Chelsea must like this young and tenacious manager and all that he has experienced in both his playing and coaching days.
He began his playing career as an attacking midfielder for TSV Ottobrunn, moving on to TSV Grotzingen and VfB Stuttgart as he got older. He scored 29 goals in almost 180 appearances, cementing himself as one of the stalwart midfielders in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart.
In 2011, he retired at Stuttgart and turned his focus toward coaching. He coached younger teams at RB Leipzig and Bayern, where he then went on to coach the reserves team. After managing the Bayern Reserve Team and leading them to a domestic trophy, he then moved up to manage Hoffenheim senior team.
At Hoffenheim, an elite club in Germany, he earned 1.42 points per game and finished in the middle of the table. Despite not being an extremely lucrative season, he gained knowledge and tactics that would help him secure the VfB Stuttgart managerial role in th spring of 2023.
This is where he came to shine, as he led his former club to the Champions league and avoided relegation.
Chelsea Manager Debacle
However, Hoeness might not look to leave the German Bundesliga, as he only recently began coaching VfB Stuttgart last year. Since he is a young coach with limited experience as a first team manager, it could be too much of a jump to begin managing at Chelsea FC – in arguably the best league in the world.
We think it is more likely that he spends another year or two at Stuttgart before looking to move to the Premier League. By that time, who knows, Chelsea could be looking for a manager yet again.
The more believable options for Chelsea’s replacement include Thomas Tuchel from Bayern Munich – who was previously the manager of the Blues a couple of years ago – or Kieran McKenna.
