The Blues’ most experienced centre midfielder is England international Conor Gallagher who is still only 24 and has only made 95 appearances for Chelsea.
Comparing him to Kante is almost pointless. The France international made almost 270 appearances for the Blues over seven years.
Newcastle United are second favourites to sign Kante at odds of 5/2 which would seem a more realistic destination than Chelsea on face value.
The 33-year-old would provide Eddie Howe with some extra depth in centre midfield, something that the Magpies have been crying out for since they lost Sandro Tonali to suspension.
PSG, Aston Villa and Arsenal are the next most likely destinations alongside the possibility of Kante staying in Saudi Arabia where he has made 44 appearances in his one season.
Man Utd who seemingly need to replace Casemiro, as well neighbours Man City who want to move Kalvin Philips along and add a replacement both look like they could really use the services of N’Golo Kante even if they are not two of the favourites.
Just about every other team in the Premier League could use the French international’s services on the face of it given his top level performances in Germany as could any of the top European clubs. It will be interesting to see where the ageless legend ends up.
