It’s now looking pretty clear that Chelsea completed the signing of Estêvão from Palmeiras with very good timing. That’s pondered in a story by UOL today. They point out that Palmeiras fans are asking if Chelsea paid too little, given the huge potential the player has been showing.

Estêvão has scored beautiful goals against Grêmio and Bahia in the past few days, and despite being just 17, he’s having a big impact in the Brazilian league.

UOL claims that Palmeiras feel fine about the sale, as they’re actually ‘proud’ of negotiating for more than his release clause and making sure he wouldn’t leave for free.

Still, there are now these questions about how much the club could have got had they paused the negotiation for a few more months. Chelsea are set to pay a minimum of €45m for the signing, and the other part depends on performance bonuses. The youngster is set to complete the move in the summer of 2025.
