The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for July 5 to address a suit aimed at removing Abdullahi Ganduje from his position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The suit, filed by aggrieved APC members from the North Central APC Forum, contends that Ganduje’s appointment violates the party’s constitution.
The plaintiffs argue that Ganduje, from Kano State in the North West geopolitical zone, was improperly appointed to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who is from Nasarawa State in the North Central zone.
They seek an order to prevent Ganduje from acting as chairman and to nullify actions taken by the APC since his appointment on August 3, 2023.
The plaintiffs assert that the National Executive Committee (NEC) exceeded its authority and that a replacement should come from the North Central zone, as stipulated in the APC’s constitution.
The court adjourned the hearing after the plaintiffs requested more time to address new filings from Ganduje’s lawyer.
The APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are also named as defendants in the case.
