The protesters are accused of attempting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The protesters were granted bail in the sum of N10 million each, with stringent conditions.

Justice Emeka Nwite, who delivered the ruling on Wednesday, ordered the protesters to produce one surety each in the same amount. The sureties must be residents of Abuja, property owners, and must deposit documents of their properties to the court. They must also swear an affidavit of means.

In addition, both the defendants and their sureties must deposit their international passports and three recent passport photographs with the court.

Justice Nwite rejected the objections of the Inspector General of Police against the bail request and ordered the defendants not to participate in any public rally throughout their trial.

The accused persons were remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of their bail conditions. Their trial is set to commence on September 27.

The protesters were accused of committing treasonable offences during their one-week nationwide protests in August.

The Inspector General of Police alleged that the protesters broke into the Abacha Army Barracks, called on the military to take over the government, and attempted to force their way into the seat of power. They were also accused of burning down a police station, injuring police officers, inciting the public against the government, and destroying public properties.

The accused persons are Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaluwa Eleojo Simon, Angel Love Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello Nurudeen Khamis, and Abduldalam Zubair.
