AZNews understands that the title of Ciroman holds considerable cultural and political significance within the Kano Emirate, as it traditionally signifies an individual’s rights of direct lineage and the responsibility to oversee specific districts.
The Emir’s late father, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, was the title’s previous holder until his passing in the 1990s.
The most recent individual to hold this title was Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who ascended to the Emir of Bichi in 2020 but was removed from the position by the incumbent government of Kano State after four years on the throne.
Sanusi’s son, currently serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police, will receive this honour alongside nine others on Friday, November 25, 2024.
The other honorees include Mahmud Aminu Yusufu, the new Mai Unguwar Mundubawa; Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II, designated as Dan Galadiman Kano; and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai), who will take on the role of Dan Madami.
