The party in a statement issued on Saturday evening which was signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, stated that Nigerians “can’t be protesting that we are hungry and still be killed on the streets like flies”.

The AAC statement was in reaction to media reports that the President would be addressing Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast on the ongoing protests with hashtags #EndBadGovernance.

“We consider this “broadcast” as an insult on the intelligence of Nigerians who have trooped out in protest for 3 days,” he party noted adding, that a government that is civil “won’t wait this long before addressing the people and acceding to their demands”.

The party which listed five minimum demands that President nationwide broadcast must addressed, it noted “Changing the national anthem didn’t take 48 hours. The appointment of 48 Ministers (highest in the history of this country) and numerous wasteful advisers didn’t take forever. Buying jets didn’t take 24 hours. Buying 160 million Naira worth of SUVs for 469 supposed lawmakers didn’t take forever.

“Approving over N20billion to build a needless residence for the Vice President didn’t take 24 hours. Extending the tenure of their errand boy, the Inspector General Police, Mr Egbetokun didn’t take 24 hours. Only a violent government will take this long before addressing the people,” AAC opined.

Titled, “#EndBadGovernance: Any Address That Does Not Address First, The Killings Of Protesters Should Be Disregarded,” the party said that as a pro-people political party, “we have participated actively in the protests and have observed different levels of dictatorial tendencies and overall the killings and harassment of peaceful protesters.

“Dozens of protesters including children and women have been killed by Tinubu agents, from Delta, to Kano, and even Abuja. Even at this moment, these killings have not stopped. Dozens have also been arrested and locked up arbitrarily by the Police and DSS, just for protesting.

“What kind of useless government is this,” the group questioned. “The human rights record of Tinubu in one year would make Buhari’s look pristine.”

The statement added, “We are not disappointed at this turn of events by the Tinubu regime because we have warned time and time again that this regime is only interested in causing the people sorrows, tears and blood.”

The, group, however, listed five demands that President Bola Tinubu must addressed to pacify Nigerians especially the youths.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the country, Mr Tinubu takes responsibility for the senseless killings and harassments of peaceful protesters by his agents.

“The loud-mouthed Minister of FCT, Wike be sacked immediately for his role in attacking the rights of Nigerians to protest hardship.

“The military should be cautioned immediately for issuing reckless statements of provocation. The Chief of Defence Staff should be reined in.

“The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe must be arrested and punished accordingly for attacking protesters; shooting live bullets at them.

“All protesters who are in detention be released immediately and victims of police brutality be compensated.”

“Any address that does not address this gross violation of human rights and does not bring to book all the killers and maimers – both state and non-state actors, should be Disregarded by the people!

“We can’t be protesting that we are hungry and still be killed on the streets like flies.

“The AAC stands in solidarity with Nigerians and will continue to march on the streets with them until freedom is attained,” the statement partly read.
