According to Suswam, the North Central region has the constitutional right to fill the vacant position previously held by Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. He said his stance is supported by the PDP constitution, which outlines the process for filling vacant positions.
About the selection process, Suswam clarified that the national leaders of the party would select the next chairman. According to him, the selection would not be done through elections, but rather through a consensus-building process among party stakeholders.
Suswam expressed concerns about sabotage and damage inflicted on the party by some members masquerading as leaders. He cited the purported congresses in the state as an example of rascality, leading to the party’s comprehensive defeat in the last polls.
“Some people want to hoodwink us because they want to control the entire party structures in the state.
“Their actions led to the comprehensive defeat of the party in the last polls and we must stand firm not to allow them to have their way again.
” What they are enjoying is a short-term victory as you cannot build anything on nothing.
“It is only the ward congress that was genuinely conducted in 15 LGA in the state that will stand,” he said.
