BREAKING: FEC Approves N985m To Purchase Body Scanners For Abuja, Lagos Airports

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, disclosed this development on Tuesday following a session with State House reporters post the FEC gathering.

The Minister said that three proposals were presented to the council for approval, one of them was the “procurement of two units of body scanners to be used at both Abuja and Lagos International Airports, at a cost of N985 million.”

On June 24th, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced the deployment of 120 officers for the aviation security (AVSEC) special force aimed at enhancing security measures and protecting assets and lives at the airports.

The Minister of Aviation and aerospace development, Mr Festus Keyamo said that the establishment of this special force is a crucial step in combatting touting and other illicit activities that have been plaguing Nigeria’s airports.
