Speaking at the commissioning of the Old-Garage-Oke-Fia-Lameco road in Osun State, Obasanjo expressed his disappointment and shock at seeing people wish him dead on social media.
According to Obasanjo, he woke up to false reports on social media claiming he had passed away. He said a close ally had informed him of the death rumours, prompting him to check social media, where he confirmed the false reports.
The former president said he was surprised to see people wishing him dead. Obasanjo said he shared the news with my family and friends, wondering why anyone would wish me harm.
The former Nigerian leader also took the opportunity to warn those who think ill of him, stating that they will not escape tragedy. According to him, those who wish me dead may have their wish, but it will not come to pass.
In addition to addressing the death rumours, Obasanjo also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his exceptional performance in Osun State. He predicted that Adeleke’s second term would be assured, citing his impressive achievements in office.
