Speaking after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri revealed that the federal government is working to stabilize the situation and alleviate the hardship faced by citizens due to fuel shortages.
Lokpobiri emphasized that the government is not fixing petrol prices, as the sector is fully deregulated.
He acknowledged that while fuel prices may differ across regions, they are expected to stabilize once distribution improves.
“There is no need for panic buying,” Lokpobiri stated, urging the public to remain calm as measures are being taken to ensure petrol availability nationwide by the weekend.
The meeting, convened by the President to address the fuel situation, reflects the administration’s concern over the current difficulties faced by Nigerians.
Lokpobiri reassured that the government is prioritizing the stabilization of fuel supply and working diligently to resolve the challenges in distribution.
