BREAKING: Governors Unable To Pay N70K Minimum Wage Told To Resign

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged governors unable to comply with the newly established ₦70,000 minimum wage to step down. Yahaya, who also chairs the Northern Governors’ Forum, expressed doubts about the financial capacity of many states to adhere to the new minimum wage during a discussion with labor leaders, civil society organizations, and traders at the Government House in Gombe.

In response, NLC’s Head of Public Relations, Benson Upah, said that governors unable to fulfill this obligation should resign, as they have a duty to uphold the law.
“He should quit if he cannot pay. He took an oath of office to uphold the law and not to break it”, Upah told Punch Newspaper.
