The former minister’s petition stated that their marriage had broken down irretrievably and that they had lived apart for a continuous period of over three years immediately preceding the petition.
The petition read: “The marriage has broken down irretrievably, and the petitioner and the respondent have lived apart for a continuous period of over three years immediately preceding the presentation of this petition. The petitioner, Diezani Alison Madueke, of No 2, Wale Olateju Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos, and who is an Architect by occupation, hereby petitions the court for a decree of dissolution of marriage against the respondent, whose address is No 2, Wole Olateju Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos, and who is a marine consultant by occupation.”
The petition further stated that Diezani Alison Madueke was born in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, in 1960, while Admiral Alison Amaechina Madueke was born in Inyi, Enugu State, in 1944. The former minister informed the court that she and her husband had ceased to cohabit since May 2015 and that the marriage had broken down irretrievably as both parties had lost interest in it completely. The marriage produced one child, a son named Chimezie Madueke, who was 20 years old at the time of the petition.
