TIB in a statement on Tuesday, signed by Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek (Scotty Aluta), its Lagos State Coordinator, said they need the Nigeria police to cooperate with the organic protesters so that what happened during the 20202 #EndSARS protest wouldn’t repeat itself.

Adekunle affirmed that the group is also ready to cooperate with the police, stating that it is their (police) constitutional duty to protect them from hijackers while it is their (protesters) constitutional duty to be peaceful and law-abiding.

The statement reads in part, “It is no more news that Nigerians are planning to hit the streets across the country which is our constitutional rights to show our grievances peacefully on the hardship the federal government has meted out to us and we are aware that hoodlums are being paid across the states to hijack the protest and also to sabotage our efforts to seek for good governance.

“We the potential and organic protesters are peace loving and law-abiding citizens and we will never demonstrate or participate in a violent protest as we believe a peaceful procession is constitutionally guaranteed.

“We urge the Lagos State government and the Lagos State commissioner of police to deploy police officers to protect us from the hands of the hoodlums so as not to hijack our peaceful protest for their own selfish interest to destroy properties and loot.

“We are not coming out to loot nor destroy properties but to demonstrate peacefully to seek for good governance and also to put an end to hardship eating us up. We will also work with the police and be on red alert to hand over any suspected hoodlums in our midst to the police for questioning and trial.

““At this point, we need the Nigerian police to cooperate with the organic protesters so that what happened during the EndSARS protest wouldn’t repeat itself, and we are also ready to cooperate with the police, it is their constitutional duty to protect us from hijackers while it is our constitutional duty to be peaceful and law abiding.

“We at the Take It Back movement have a very good past antecedents when it comes to protest and the police can also testify our protest is always peaceful, anything contrary to the aforementioned, hold the Lagos State government and the Lagos State commissioner of police responsible,” the statement added.
