Kyari’s appointment was made on Wednesday during the 48th session of the IFAD Governing Council, held at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The session, chaired by Mr Alvaro Lario, IFAD President, focused on the theme “Catalysing Investment at the 1st Mile.”
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, the IFAD Governing Council is the highest decision-making body for the 180 member states, represented by a governor and an alternate.
“Kyari’s election to the vice-chairmanship places Nigeria in a strong position within IFAD, enhancing its influence in shaping global agricultural policies and investments.”
The statement also highlighted that the bureau of the council is chaired by Christophe Schiltz from Luxembourg.
“The session was attended by heads of state, ministers of finance, agriculture, and development from the fund’s 180 member states, as well as executive heads of observer organisations.”
