Slovakia were almost pulling one of the biggest upsets at Euro 2024, when the scored against England in the first half and held on until added time. A minute separated them from glory but they could not hold on.
Ivan Schranz had opened the scoring for Slovakia after he was set free in the area by David Strelec 25 minutes into the match and he made no mistake with a lovely finish into the bottom left corner.
England thought they have equalised in the 50th minute after Phil Foden finished from close range with an easy finish, but the referee ruled out the goal for offside.
In the 55th minute, David Strelec decided to unleash a long-range shot. Despite hitting it very well, it scorched inches wide of the right post.
In the 78th minute, Phil Foden found the head of Harry Kane with a clever free kick, and he crashed in a powerful close-range header at goal that just flew past the left post.
Three minutes later, Declan Rice unleashed a thunderous effort from the edge of the box and the ball crashed against the left post.
Harry Kane scored the winning goal for England one minute into extra-time after a Nice headed pass by Ivan Toney to him. He latched on to it and put the ball into the back of the net with a fine header to make it 2-1.
