The commissioner and his wife were kidnapped on Friday, August 16, while travelling to Abuja to attend the wedding of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter, Adaora.
Mba’s kidnapping occurred along the Edo-Kogi Expressway, where the couple was travelling in a Toyota Sienna bus with other passengers. Unfortunately, one of the commissioner’s aides was killed during the incident.
The Anambra state government has not yet made an official statement on the matter, but releasing the commissioner and his wife is a welcome development.
Anambra to speak on the kidnapped commissioner
According to The Punch, the government is expected to make an official statement about the commissioner’s rescue later on Sunday, August 18.
Kidnapping has become a pervasive and alarming issue in Kogi State, with several cases reported in recent times. The state’s strategic location, bordering several major highways and roads, has made it a hotspot for kidnappers who target unsuspecting travellers and residents.
The consistency of these kidnappings has raised concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in place, leaving many to wonder if anyone is safe from this menace.
Governor Soludo speaks on Nigeria’s economy
Legit earlier reported that the Anambra state governor, Charles Soludo, has blamed Nigeria’s economic misfortune on President Bola Tinubu’s predecessors, including ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Soludo, a former CBN governor, said the current administration inherited a dead economy, adding that Nigerians need to know.
The Anambra governor accused the CBN of violating the 2007 Bank Act by illegally printing money.
