Represented by the Honourable Federal Commissioner for Delta State in the National Population Commission, Hon Mrs Blessyn Brume-Ataguba, Senator Omo-Agege disclosed that his attention was drawn to the deplorable condition of the road by Hon Mrs Blessyn Brume Ataguba, prompting him to take steps to address and put machineries in place to construct the road to bring succor to the Udu people.

The Emadadja/Obubu road has been in a deplorable condition, before the immediate past Deputy Senate President in the 9th Senate and Delta state Governorship Candidate in 2023 election, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in his desire to transform Delta State, embarked on many projects in the state, one of which being the Emadadja/Obubu road Project.

In her personal address at the ceremony, Hon Mrs Blessyn Brume Ataguba, Honourable Commissioner, National Population Commission, emphasized that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s unbreakable commitment to promises made to the people of Emadadja/Obubu communities, has been fulfilled by completing the construction of the road despite the outcome of the 2023 polls.

She commended the Emadadja and Obubu people for the cooperation the contractor enjoyed during the construction of the road, urging the Udu people to continue to encourage their sons and daughters in politics to bring development to the area.

She used the opportunity to emphasize on importance of population census and call out parents and wards to take the registration of births seriously because that is what determines how many social welfare amenities the community can get when the Federal government starts distribution or allocation of resources.

‘’I consider it note worthy to mention that this project is one amongst several other people-oriented projects, ably facilitated by our H.E. Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Assembly and the Governorship Candidate of our Great Party, the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections.

‘’The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently the largest Political Party in Africa. The party is determined to promote the causes that advance development and to bring succor to Nigerians. Indeed one of the seven guiding principles of our great party is the promotion of social justice and the pursuit of economic development.

‘’There is no doubt that the Emadadja-Obubu Road will accelerate Agricultural development through ease of transportation of farm produce and improvement in the general socio-economic activities of the two communities and also, the adjoining communities, including the contiguous Local Government Areas.

‘’Just one more information from my desk at the NPC, I would encourage you all to register the birth of your children. Registration for children between the ages of 0-17 years old is free. For those 18 years and over, do your attestation. For that, there’s a small fee to be paid. This is important because, it is your population that determines what resources are allocated to you from the federal government’’, she added.

She urged the people to use the road well and also imbibe maintenance culture so that the purpose for which the road was constructed is not defeated.

President General of the Union of Udu Communities, Chief Austin Emaduku, in his remarks thanked Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the gesture of constructing the road, making access into Obubu and other communities easier. He appealed to those in authority to do more for Udu by linking the road to Oleri and DSC gate on the DSC expressway.

President of Obubu Community, Mr Victor America also thanked the former DSP for bringing the road to their communities, urging him to do more for the people.

Though the 2023 general elections have come and gone yet the positive impacts of the former Deputy Senate President were felt during the commissioning of the road as residents, community leaders, women, men, youths and road users from all over Udu communities, from different sitting positions were chanting “Agege, Agege, Agege,” praising Senator Ovie Omo Agege for his superlative performance and unbeatable records in the 9th Assembly of the Senate. Their hearts were filled with gratitude.

The women of the community welcomed their guests and leaders joyfully with songs of praise for the DSP just as they danced gracefully and delightfully to beautiful songs and music.

Speaking on the significance of the road, Chairman of the occasion, Mr. S. K Palama, thanked the facilitator, Hon. Mrs. Blessyn Brume-Ataguba for her brilliant representation of Udu in the office of the former DSP, which he said, drew attention to the road leading to the intervention of the DSP. He added that the 2 Km road will bring accelerated development, easy movement of people and their goods, and enhanced economic activities – mostly farmers and traders who can now easily evacuate their agricultural produce to the cities and towns for sale.
