The Commissioner of Police, Salma Dogo, made the announcement on Tuesday after a State Security Council meeting presided by Governor Abba Yusuf in Government House.

Recall that Governor Yusuf on Thursday imposed a 24 hour curfew in the state, following the looting and destruction of public and private properties, killing and maiming of citizens by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndBadGovernance protest.

Dogo on Tuesday said the curfew has been reviewed to restore normalcy for people to attend to their legitimate businesses in the state.

The police commissioner said “Governor Yusuf, after intensive deliberations with members of the state security council, decided to review the curfew from 6 am to 6 pm.”

Dogo called on residents to cooperate with security personnel deployed in and outside the metropolis as law and order are gradually being restored in the state.

He explained that the security agencies would be visible in the metropolis to ensure law and order are maintained.

He urged residents in the state to return to their various homes by 6 p.m., assuring that “the curfew would be reviewed, as the security situation improves”.

The police commissioner disclosed that the governor is appealing to residents of the state to continue to pray for peace, progress and political stability of the country.
