Speaking to the press on Friday, Waiya emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote, allowing citizens to elect their preferred leaders for local council positions.
Waiya also raised concerns over conflicting court judgments that he fears may negatively impact Nigeria’s democracy. He called on Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to address and resolve these inconsistencies.
As a proponent of peace, Waiya assured that CDE, a non-partisan organization, is committed to maintaining peace and supporting the will of the people, regardless of tribal or religious affiliations. He encouraged voters, saying, “Kano state belongs to everyone, and we will support whoever is elected by the people.”
The Kano state local government elections are expected to draw significant participation, with various stakeholders advocating for citizens to make their voices heard through their votes.
