Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Saturday urged the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to concede defeat in the ongoing council election in the state......READ THE FULL STORY>>.....READ THE FULL STORY>>
Yusuf gave the advice after voting at his Chiranci ward in Gwale local government area of the state where he described the conduct of the election as the freest process in the history of elections in the country.
APC on Friday announced its withdrawal in the conduct of the council election citing the Judgment of Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court as justification for its decision.
The party was however silent over the subsequent ruling of Justice Sanusi Ma’aji of the state high court which upheld the constitutional and electoral powers of the electoral body to proceed with the council poll as scheduled.
Yusuf stressed that APC would have tested its strength and credibility by taking part in the election instead of embarking on litigation to scuttle the peaceful process.
He expressed dismay at why the opposition party would neglect the democratic process only to prefer unlawful roots to deny Kano residents sources of income in the name of politics.
He, however, appealed to APC to consider the path of peace, growth, and development of Kano and accept defeat in good fate.
He appealed to the Federal Government and the Judiciary to pave the way for the survival of the democratic process in Kano instead of embarking on actions to subvert the will of the people in the state.
The governor stated that Nigeria belongs to everybody regardless of political influence, adding that the attempt to scuttle public good for selfish and political interest should be avoided.
