Legal analyst Chidi Nwoke commented on the incident, stating, “The brazen theft of a lawyer’s vehicle from the High Court premises in broad daylight is a deeply concerning incident that underscores the urgent need to strengthen security measures at our judiciary facilities. It is unacceptable that legal professionals and citizens visiting the court should have to worry about the safety of their property. The authorities must take swift action to investigate this crime, apprehend those responsible, and implement robust security protocols to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The integrity and sanctity of our courts depend on it.”
This incident has raised serious concerns about the porous security at the Owerri High Court and the potential risks it poses to judges, lawyers, judiciary staff members, litigants, and visitors. Lawyers and the public are calling for immediate action to address the security lapses and ensure the safety of all individuals within the court premises.
