The Libyan national team, determined to cause an upset, will arrive in Abuja on October 7 to kickstart the final phase of their preparations ahead of the crucial clash, according to Libya Alahrar TV.
The Libyan delegation will then head to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital, for the match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Having begun their training camp in Tripoli, Libya’s preparations have been intense under the leadership of head coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri, along with Tunisian assistant Akram Al-Hammami and Aboubaker Harak.
The Libyan team is focusing on refining their tactics and conditioning to adapt to the Nigerian climate, with hopes of claiming their first victory in the qualifying campaign.
Libya’s qualifying journey has been challenging so far, with a home draw against Rwanda and an away loss to Benin.
With just one point from two games, they are eager to make a strong statement in Uyo to keep their hopes alive for AFCON 2025.
The team’s technical staff is reportedly leaving no stone unturned, working tirelessly to ensure they are tactically prepared for the encounter.
They are determined to bounce back and take advantage of the two-legged tie, with the Super Eagles, who currently lead Group D with four points, set to host the Libyans on October 11. The return fixture is billed for October 15 in Benina.
The Super Eagles have won each of their last four games against Libya, including a 4-0 victory in Uyo in October 2018 during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Odion Ighalo netted an excellent hat-trick and Samuel Kalu bagged a late strike in that encounter.
