The organisers announced the nominees for the various categories at a press conference on Thursday held at Bon Hotel, Ikeja.
The award, which is the longest-serving football awards in Nigeria, is known for its credibility, transparency, and integrity since inception in 2013.
A total of 18 categories were announced, ranging from the King of the Pitch to the Queen of the Pitch, Team of the year and many more.
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, who had a scintillating year with Atalanta, leading them to their first-ever Europa League title was nominated for two categories – The King of the Pitch, and the striker of the year.
He has been nominated in the King of the Pitch category alongside Victor Osimhen, and William Troost-Ekong.
Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade will slug it out with Asisat Oshoala, and Chiamaka Nnadozie for the Queen of the Pitch Awards.
Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars will go head to head for the goalkeeper of the year award.
Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, and Wilfred Ndidi are in for the midfielder of the year award.
Ola Aina’s remarkable year for Nottingham Forest has earned him a nomination alongside his club teammate Calvin Bassey, and William Troost-Ekong.
Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, Enugu Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, and Moses Aduku of Edo Queens will vie for the coach of the year award.
The President of the Awards, Shina Phillips was full of praise for Sports Editors, Sports Journalists, and the Nigeria Football Federation for their support since inception, while promising to uphold the values of the awards.
He said: “From the beginning, our goal was to create an award platform built on the core values of transparency, credibility, and integrity. We are proud that year after year, our College of Voters—comprising Nigeria’s most experienced sports journalists—continues to make independent and patriotic decisions,”
