Awforkansi who’s the leader of LP in Enugu West zone of the stated, stated this on Wednesday in Enugu.
Awforkansi decried the economic situation in the country warning that if things continue the way they are, Tinubu will likely lose the 2027 election especially if votes count.
Awforkansi also warned those decamping from the Labour Party to other political parties “are jumping the gun and will hit brick walls”.
THE WHISTLER reports that both All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party are wooing LP’s guber candidate in the 2023 elections, Hon Chijioke Edeoga, to join their folds.
According to Ozor Awforkansi, the Obedient Movement, which was formed to actualise the presidential ambition of the former Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi, is still intact, and waiting to know where Mr Obi is headed for ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “LP was just a party in newspapers before Obi joined it. It came alive because of Peter Obi. No personality of Obedient Movement has decamped to APC or PDP. Those decamping are after their stomach. They are jumping the gun and will hit the brick walls. It will be a political suicide.”
He described the lawmakers of the Enugu State House of Assembly who were elected on the platform of LP that joined PDP as “people who do not know how they got the positions”. According to him, they had become ‘yes members’ in the House since joining PDP, thus killing opposition in the state.
He said Nigerian electorate are becoming wiser, and would replicate what happened in the 2023 general elections in 2027. He however called for vigilance and protection of votes.
In his words, “Things can’t continue like this. If votes count, President Bola Tinubu can’t be re-elected. He lost Lagos that he governed for eight years in 2023.
“What has APC done to Nigerians to deserve re-election? If APC rigs elections in 2027, it should kill all of us. We copied our democracy from the US.
“Tell me any lawmaker in the US that has changed parties. We lack political ideology in Nigeria.”
He however acknowledged that there are crises in LP at the national level, adding however that the vacuum being created by those leaving “is a blessing in disguise as some of us will have opportunities to run for elections and win”.
